Stonehenge Visitor Centre
Opened in December 2013, the new visitor centre houses permanent and temporary exhibitions, including nearly 300 archaeological treasures found buried at the site – from jewellery to pottery to human remains – as well as a gallery, a gift shop and a 110-seater counter service café that serves hot and cold food using locally-sourced produce. There's inside and outside seating where you can enjoy lovely views to the west, or take food away for your onward journey.
The environmentally-sensitive centre is located 1.5 miles from the stones. A shuttle service runs from the visitor centre to the stone circle, stopping off halfway to allow visitors the opportunity to walk the remaining stretch if you wish.
The roadway and pathway complex around the visitor centre is designed to enable vehicular and pedestrian traffic to move around the visitor centre site in safety and comfort on stable surfaces created from decorative gravel resins and highways asphalt all of which were edged with the Rite L Edge heavy duty aluminium landscape edgings.
